Kratom comes in several forms including Kratom extracts, Kratom powder, and Kratom capsules. There are unique perks to each.
Capsules are a popular choice for Newbies, but plenty of experienced Kratom users enjoy the luxury of Kratom capsules, too.
Let’s go over the benefits of Kratom capsules and why some users prefer them over regular Kratom powder.
Consistent Dosage
Kratom capsules contain a pre-measured amount of Kratom powder, which means you don’t have to bother pulling out your measuring tools when preparing your serving. Depending on the size of the capsule, they can contain anywhere from 0.25 grams to 1.5 grams!

The first (and most important) step when using Kratom capsules is to determine what your regular Kratom powder serving size is in capsule form. Some capsules hold more powder than others, so it’s important to take note of how much each capsule contains before diving in.
For example, my regular serving size is 2 grams and the capsules I use contain a ½ gram per capsule. So, to achieve my accurate serving size I would need to take 4 capsules total.
Once you figured out your Kratom serving size for capsules, using them is as simple as swallowing them with water. We recommend only taking one capsule at a time so that they’re easier to swallow.

Some vendors offer pre-filled Kratom capsules for sale so you don’t have to worry about making your own. But what if your favorite Kratom strain isn’t available in capsule form? Or what if the capsule size is too big for you? Everyone has different preferences!

Keep in mind - different Kratom strains produce different effects. Before you start making your capsules, you’ll need to figure out which Kratom strains offer effects that align with your needs.

What Kind of Capsules Should I Use?
You can buy different types and sizes of capsule casing. Again, whatever one you choose will depend on your personal preferences.
There are vegetarian capsules and non-vegetarian gelatin capsules. The vegetarian capsules are made of plant cellulose and the gelatin capsules are made from plant OR animal collagen. Both types of capsules work effectively for Kratom use, so it’s worth trying both options to see which you like better.
Capsules are also available in various sizes. The sizes are 000, 00, 0, and 1-5. Higher numbers indicate smaller capsules. Smaller capsules will hold less Kratom powder but they’re much easier to swallow. Larger capsules will hold much more Kratom powder but they can be tricky to swallow.
DIY Capsule Filling Equipment
Filling capsules is simple but it can be pretty tedious and time-consuming. Having the proper equipment makes a huge difference. Let’s cover a few items that make filling capsules less of a hassle.
A capsule filling tray is a small board that holds the capsules in place while you fill them. It makes the process of filling much quicker because you can fill multiple capsules at a time. This specific model holds 100 capsules, but you can get ones that can hold up to 400. Be sure the tray corresponds with the size of capsule you are using.
- Digital Weight Scale
Using a digital weighing scale helps measure out the amount of Kratom powder to be filled into your capsules. It isn’t required, but it is helpful for keeping track of how much Kratom powder is in the capsules.
How to Fill Your Kratom Capsules
If you’re using a manual capsule filling tray this process should only take about 10-20 minutes.

Set up your area! Make sure the surface is clean, dry, and flat. Grab all of the materials you need (Kratom powder, empty capsules, and filling tray)

Place the body plate on a flat surface and attach the frame plate.

Start opening 100 capsules. The larger piece is the BODY and the smaller piece is the CAP. Once your capsules are open, begin to arrange the BODY pieces into the filling tray.

After all of your capsules are in place, lift up the frame plate and attach the spill guard.

Pour the Kratom Powder evenly on top. Use the powder spreading tool to distribute the powder evenly across.

Use the tamper tool to gently compress the powder. Make sure the capsules are completely full. Add more powder if necessary.

Place the capping plate on the table and put the frame plate on top of it.

Arrange the caps securely on the frame plate. Once full, remove the frame plate and attach the middle plate to the capping plate. Make sure it’s securely locked into place.

Attach capping plate on top of the body plate. The middle plate should be in between the capping plate and the body plate.

Press down firmly and evenly a couple of times.
- Lift up the capping plate and your capsules are ready to go! You can remove the capsules by lifting up the middle plate and gently pressing the capsules out.
